That vigorous pursuit wasn't very Mint. Happy Canada Day!

"The Royal Canadian Mint said Monday that $15.3 million worth of gold missing from its vaults could have been stolen.
The gold was reported missing last fall, but officials at the mint said they had hoped they would find that an accounting error was responsible.
A review conducted by auditors Deloitte and Touche, however, recently concluded that the gold wasn't simply forgotten during inventory.
"The unaccounted for difference in gold does not appear to relate to an accounting error in the reconciliation process, an accounting error in the physical stock count schedules or an accounting error in the record keeping of transactions during the year," the company concluded in a report released Monday.
Christine Aquino, director of communications with the mint, said that many possible scenarios are being considered.
"We're not going to speculate on the cause just yet," said Aquino.
'We're not giving up on this. We're going to pursue this rather vigorously'."

Helloooo!!!! Somebody in the Canadian Mint has lost over $15 million through the activity of theft or blunder. Is this world losing it's frigging sanity? Is the normal sense of urgency completely absent in this day and age? Has the social register's conscience completely tilted? Our moral compass seems to have faltered along with the modern media that headlines sensationalism over journalism.

Am I alone in the inherent absurdity of present day justice, since modern day like thieves abscond with billions of dollars and new millennium justice sentences 70 plus year old criminals to a century and a half in prison. Was there any semblance of common sense in that court judgement? An investigative journalist by lined his newspaper reporting one of the victims who had been relegated to social welfare and food stamps from her losses to the crook and liar. An "eye for an eye" principle is quickly becoming a penance that will more effectively correct the criminal intent to steal and harm and maim fellow citizens than any present day justice, I have seen being reported.

At what point will society actually denigrate the pointlessness of these public examinations masquerading as trialed justice? They are totally useless of correcting abhorrent behavior near as I can tell. I find it mind boggling to read these daily reports of million and billion dollar thievery after the past years of banking and insurance fund frauds. What corrective remedies were apparent in the banking communities when the managers were compensated to million dollar bonuses after bungling any resemblance of fiscal and economic responsibility. Media readily condoned the bonuses as contractually obligated. Excuse me, but some responsible journalist should have publicly noted that a hit man is commonly referred to as contractual. I hate when they treat us like fools.
It all seems relatively simple to remedy with the application of a little common sense, but how does it all seem to get lost or waylayed in the print? For example the media reports: "We're not giving up on this. We're going to pursue this rather vigorously". This quote is from the Communication Director for the Canadian Mint. A Crown Corporation. How can the state be responsibly governing the billions of tax dollars to stimulate the floundering economy, while realizing the ironey behind the vigorous pursuit of over $15M gold lost last fall.

By the way, I just got a message from my good friend Gerry Desharnais' Mom on MSN saying Gerry hopped on his Electra Glide at 8am this morning and was heading to Windsor. Mrs D was sharing her wishes that Da Gar has good weather for his trip from Winnipeg to Windsor. I assured Mrs D. that the weatherman here had forecast rain but, typically, nothing had precipitated and the clouds were beginning to dwindle.

I promised to give Mrs D. any updates on MSN as Gerry called me from his gas stops. He should be arriving in Windsor tomorrow night. That would be July 1st. Happy Canada Day, eh!
I'll be in touch.
