Barb walked into my office and said I got myself a dilemma.

How can I get a 55 inch TV from London to my living room.

Huh, I said, what?? Where did you get a 55 incher??

Relatives upgraded their home entertainment and gave me their old 55 incher if I can transport it from their house in London, she reported.

OY...when we get in a squeeze, its Joe to the rescue. Joe measured his van and its a tight fit. But its a fit. Face down after all the seats are removed, we can do 'er. Not face down someone advises. No Way do you move a new fangled flat panel TV anyway but upright.

OY....plan B, Joe. We always got a plan B ( circa movie titled Rare Birds) when Joe is doing the rescue.

Anyhow, cant tell you plan B cause Joes Ma took ill and he left fore Cape Breton to be with her before we could activate Plan B. Stay tuned.

Darn it all anyhow.... I got back from Montreal last night and never made my ritual culinary rendezvous with a smoked meat sandwich at Reuben's Deli and a Greek salad from the lunch menu at Katz. According to government officials, approximately 2.5 million trees that were to be planted in the area were severely damaged by polar winds. That number represents about five per cent of the 50 million seedlings scheduled to be planted this spring by the B.C. government. WINNIPEG... like a fine whine

It's one of the things that defines us By: David Connors What are Winnipeg's institutions? I don't mean hospitals and corporate headquarters. I mean the things that define us as a city. Would that list include the Bridge Drive Inn? The Jets? (The dream, at least, lives on... and on and on.) The Blue Bombers? (Well, let's see how they do in the Banjo Bowl before we decide on that one.) A friend recently emailed me a copy of the 1958 Winnipeg Visitors Guide. It was the big ad for Eaton's that set me off on this particular tangent. Remember Eaton's? In the same guide, an ad for the Childs Restaurant boasts, "If you visit us once, you'll return." If only we could; its menu featured steamed Lake Winnipeg goldeye (whatever happened to that Winnipeg institution?). The restaurant, alas, was torn down to make way for the Canwest building.
