VANCOUVER - Vancouver is launching an aggressive offensive to clean-up its tarnished reputation following last week's Stanley Cup riot.

The city wants the world to forget the smashed windows, looted storefronts and clouds of tear gas that marred the skyline after the Canucks loss to the Boston Bruins, and focus instead on the smiling, happy images of the Tourism Vancouver website, "This is Our Vancouver."

The website says the actions of a few aren't a true reflection of the city, and it commends the Good Samaritans who helped to clean up the streets.

News that Vancouver area hockey fans looted stores, beat onlookers and lit cars on fire have made headlines around the world.

One expert says the melee cost Vancouver millions of dollars in property damage and billions of dollars of damage to its international reputation.

There has been an outpouring of public disgust over the riot, and many of the rioters are being identified by friends and acquaintances in photos posted on a number of websites.
